The outfit I choose to wear for this 70′s flashback party was mainly contemporary items with just a couple of vintage accessories pieces. I wanted to capture a certain mood for the night rather than a costume like look.
Bring a prop to your next theme party, everyone will thank you for it!

LA Live was full of color and fab people thursday night (7-15). All of which were gathering to see British Indie Pop Star La Roux at Club Nokia downtown. Tickets for the concert had been sold out weeks prior to the show starting at a low of 21.50 but once people found out tix were sold out various places like stubhub had numerous people selling their tickets for up to $200. With this its no wonder that the waiting line reached around figuroa with a wait for 2hrs just to get inside to wait another 2 1/2hrs for the show. All & all club nokia was filled with the young & stylish ready to party. Instead of having a non-known band perform to open, she chose to have a dj which ended up being a hit getting the crowd amp for the performance. La Roux opened with my fav tigerlilly and closed with her now hit single bulletproof that had everyone singing attempting to do her impressive dance moves. She wore a pair of black fitted pants with gold trimmings on the sides a white blouse topped with a gold jacket and her signature hair flip mohawk. The stage was lit up in disco colors of green, neon pink, and flurescent blue and had a screen displaying a freakishly cool image of La Roux aka Elly’s head mimicing the words of various songs. If you’ve never been to Club Nokia typically performers dont go all out for an event there, but La Roux has raised the stakes for those following. Overall Great Show, wish you were there. Here are a couple of songs she performed to help you relive the moment.

All of the models were decked out from head to toe with dresses from the different and unique designs of Kao Pao Shu, who we had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing just last week. The favorite dress of the evening was sewn out of measuring tape, while the others, equally as grandiose are sewn from ribbons- her known trademark, having a love of continuous lines

Approximately 185,000 human beings (weather dressed in monkey suits, lingerie, or as pirates) filed in to the procession that would lead them to a night of music, lights, color, and an enhanced perspective. Some rave-goers had not missed a Carnival since music promoter Insomniac put EDC on the map in 1996, while first-timers were wide-eyed with anticipation.

The element that was original and appropriate, in every aspect, was the casual and strategic placement of models that was scattered throughout the entire space. It created a life for this collection sending a message of it’s wearability and personality. ”It’s kind of like ‘style by community’ — a combination of best friend advice sprinkled with style authorities’ expertise.”
