She says of her new collection “I’m still interested in the connections between humans and animals, but this season, I wanted to explore the very formal way we dress to ride these beautiful horses.”

Is this the tone that is being set for F/W 11.12?

Where there is darkness, there is light- and where there is minimalism one will find pops here and there? Spring.Summer, especially in New York was monotonous, most of the collections having very basic color pallettes of cream, white, and black. Plain? Not as much as you would think. Among all of these amazing redefined basic silhouettes with extreme detail put into the fabrication and draping, there was found dashes of red. Red has always been a show-stopper- as well as an easy seller. Red is young and sophisticated, it translates to the masses and ages. My 10 year old niece wears red, I wear red, and my mother wears read- there is your target market!

Now that fashion week in New York City has come and gone, a few distinct selections of merchandise have made a lasting impression in the recollection of a certain Forward Fashion Philosopher, Jacqueline Chambers.
Alexandre Herchcovitch has been in the top ten of my choice designers as of NYFW in February. His remarkable attention to detail and patent craftsmanship in each and every garment tells a tale that is construed visually in a truly captivating display in each and every collection. Last season was a tribute to soldiers, and Spring/Summer 2011 nodded to a monochromatic future of corresponding lips, clothing, and shoes. The minute I laid eyes on that lipstick, I put it on my “must have” list!

The garments and accessories with which we have adorned ourselves today may materialize a vision of our youth and energy, but in reality, my partner, Tuesday Simon, and I, are exhausted. With tired feet and blood shot eyes, we have arrived at the last day of our fashion week journey in New York City, with a screeching halt.

-Reem Acra
The Spring.Summer Collection for Reem Acra was a combination of Vintage costume with the same flavor of Couture. When all of the “hip” girls in town are going to their nearest op-shop or flea market instead of Neiman Marcus, designers have to realize there is a need. This need is not one of monetary conditions, rather it is a neccesity to have something that no one else does- clothes that stand out and are unique. It is unlikely to see two girls wearing an identical dress that can be found for $4 dollars at a goodwill outlet en route to Miami, but how many millions of girls will buy the Jbrand cargo pants from any of the mainstream retail establishments?

Erin Fetherston’s guests were greeted to champagne and flowers upon arriving to her show. This was an extremely mood enhancing idea given the fact that many in attendance had strutted in heels through the pouring rain outside in order to make it.
The crowd was young and lively, hipster styles on parade. A few colorful friends of the designer were easy to spot in floor length evening gowns, fur collars, and entire outfits of stripes. Kelly Osbourne was also in attendance.
