The latest Collection S/S 2010 embraces this neutral color phenomenon that has gone on for years, and he definitely nails it.

The roar of Karl Lagerfeld echoed through the famed Paris’ Grand Palais, as his Fall/Winter 2010 Haute Couture collection debuted around a massive gold lion statue. His collection was in honor of Coco’s astrological sign- a Leo.

The collection held a sense of docile emotion as the models walked out from the lion. ” But this is the luxury for life” Lagerfeld said, continued with ” Not creativity for creativities sake”. Lagerfelds’ words on his collection rang true through the entire show. Focusing on lavish elements, that are wearable- but still have the couture flair.
Set in what appeared to be a design studio, the Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture show from concept to execution did not disappoint. The models came out blind folded in black scarves, carefully and slowly entering, so not to fall.
There was a western inspiration common in all pieces, one more flamboyant than all the rest. The first look was a leotard paired with thigh high boots loosening at the top to simulate a cowboys chap, but comprised of individual scraps of leathers. This technique was a better version of the patch denim trend that was founded in the 90′s, originating from the left-over’s of the hippie era.
